This is that time of the year in a first grader where magic seems to happen. The kiddos come back with excitement and a readiness to get to work! I love it.
This week we worked on many different writing pieces.
We jumped in where we left off before winter break with homophones. I found this fabulous homophone activity.....Homophones...They won't trick us.... from Jessica at Apples and Papers. You can download it from here TPT store for free here.
I was so impressed with my little lovelies....they knew the difference between just about all the words in the packet.
After I take them down from display, I'll copy a book for each kiddo in my class to take home.
We also finished up our Snowman at Night writing and craft. This is a writing piece our entire first grade team does at this time of the year. My kiddos loved it.
I saw this post about it on The Elementary Art Room
and then saw how
Cara at The First Grade Parade used the black paper for the background and decided to go that route.
I love them.
We also wrote our 2014 goals. I found this great writing craftivity...Skating into the New Year!...from Heidi at My (Not So) Elementary Life.
There were MANY goals focused on getting along with sisters and brothers. They also want to READ, READ, READ in the New Year and that makes my heart sing!!
